Minister for Primary Care to launch review of oral health care policy at IDA seminar

(01 Oct 2013)

We are delighted to confirm that the Minister for Primary Care, Mr Alex White TD, is to formally launch the opening of our Annual Seminar for Public Dental Surgeons to take place in the Mullingar Park Hotel between 16 - 18 October.

The Minister is expected to make a major announcement signalling a review of oral health policy to be undertaken under the leadership of the new Chief Dental Officer, Dr Dympna Kavanagh.

The Department of Health has confirmed that it will engage with the public, the Irish Dental Association and other relevant stakeholders in developing oral health policy, ensuring equity of access and prioritisation of patients with greatest needs. We expect to hear details for the first time of the Government’s policy priorities and preferences as regards oral health in the addresses by Minister White and Dr Kavanagh and of the process and the framework for the review.

Therefore we would encourage as many members as possible to attend the addresses which commence at 11am on Wednesday, 16 October.

We ask that you register your attendance in advance by contacting IDA House as soon as possible in order that adequate facilities and catering may be made available. The booking fee for IDA members is available at the very reasonable fee of €160 only. Full details of the event are available to read here.
