Annual Reports Show Another Busy Year for Dental Bodies

(02 Apr 2013)

The Annual Reports for both the Irish Dental Union and the Irish Dental Association show that 2012 was yet another busy year for both bodies.

The Association’s Annual Report contains detailed reports from the officers and chief executive as well as reports from key committees and branches, all testifying to a busy year for the Association in education, science, publishing and advocacy.

The representation of dentists is covered in a  comprehensive report from chief executive, Fintan Hourihan, in the annual report for the Irish Dental Union.

Both reports contain the financial accounts for the Association and the Union.

AGM Motions

The motions for the Annual General Meetings of both organisations are included to the rear of the Annual Reports. The AGMs for both bodies will take place on Thursday, April 18th in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Galway, commencing at 6pm.

Dr Maher Kemmoona has been proposed to assume the position of Honorary Secretary Designate of the Irish Dental Union / Association, subject to ratification at the AGMs in Galway.

AGM Presentations

Finally, Council has decided to support a nomination to admit Dr Barney Murphy to the Roll of Honour for the Irish Dental Association. Separately, a special presentation to Dr Barry Harrington, in recognition of his attendance at 50 consecutive IDA AGMs, is also to take place. Both presentations will take place at around 6.30pm on Thursday, April 18th in the Inis Mór Suite in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Galway.

Dr Sean Malone will take over as President while Dr Peter Gannon has been nominated to the position of President Elect. Drs Conor McAlister and Ray McCarthy will complete their terms of office having served as President and Honorary Treasurer with great distinction and dedication and for which we are all profoundly grateful.
