The Irish Dental Association [IDA] has expressed disappointment at the announcement of cuts in fees to be paid to dentists treating medical card patients [DTSS Scheme].
Speaking today, Fintan Hourihan, Chief Executive of the IDA said that cuts would put these services under further strain and lead to further delays in treatment for medical card patients; ?the publicly funded dental services for medical card patients are already under significant strain because of underfunding. These cuts will put further strain on the system and will lead to longer queues for patients and further pressure on hard pressed dentists.?
The IDA said that it would study the proposals in detail over the coming days.
