Dear doctor,
I write to advise you that members will be invited in the coming months to nominate a member for appointment as President for both the Irish Dental Association and the Irish Dental Union. Our rules provide for the President-Elect for 2016-2017 to be nominated by membership election and a process for this election has been decided by Council.
Our rules provide that any proposed candidate must have a broad base of experience within the organisation and suggest that this would require a minimum of three years’ service at Committee level at the time of selection.
Council decided recently that a preliminary notice to members would issue at this stage and a formal invitation of expressions of interest / nominations will follow in September.
Enquiries in regard to the office of President or the election process are welcomed on a confidential basis if you wish to contact me in IDA House.
