The Irish Dental Association is governed by a Council which consists of:
* The Honorary Officers - President, Vice President, President Elect, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Membership Secretary, Hon. Editor of the Journal and the Hon. Secretary designate or the Hon. Treasurer designate
* Three Elected Members
* A representative of each branch of the Association
* Two representatives of the Health Board Dental Surgeons Group
* Three representatives of the Private General Practitioners Group
Council may also co-opt up to three members in any one year and may also invite representatives of sections to attend Council meetings but without voting rights.
